Koffee with Kelman is an
ongoing series of small, informal discussions between Dr. Steve
Kelman and the 1102 community, with the intent to
allow 1102’s
to share ideas, lessons learned, anecdotes and historical perspectives
with one of the premier procurement policy experts,
Dr. Steven
Kelman.
Following the approach used while Administrator of the Office of
Federal Procurement Policy (OFPP), Dr. Kelman believes that an
open dialog with front-line contracting professionals is the best
way to understand and address the practical challenges of buying
for the government.
Dr. Kelman suggests 2 formats for Koffee. The 1st is for a small
group of newer 1102’s from a single contracting office. The
2nd is for a small group of branch or team leaders from a single
agency.
The typical format for a Koffee with Kelman session is an approximately
60 minute discussion with 2 to 6 1102’s at a local coffee
house or deli near the requesting agency’s location.
Steven Kelman is Albert J. Weatherhead III and Richard W. Weatherhead
Professor of Public Management at the Harvard University, John
F. Kennedy School of Government.
A “must read” for
anyone interested
in public sector
acquisition and leadership.
